Freedom. Undervalued until it is stripped away, misunderstood if it is never accessible to begin with. Growing up in Indian society as young girl, freedom in the specific context of being female in India, was only an intangible word in my vocabulary, desired immensely but just out of grasp. Living in San Francisco as a woman, it is my partner, and the constant underlying current that drives my creative process & artwork. Ignited by the small, unassuming freedoms that I have discovered in California, my ongoing series of work, Unbounded, juxtaposes muted and bright colors, lines, strokes, and shapes, and hints at a quiet, relaxed freedom both mental and physical found in the everyday lives of women.
